Attractions Altea and Albir

Casco Antiguo, The Old Town, is a must-see in Altea, with its picturesque maze of cobbled streets. The architecture in the old town dates as far back as to the Moorish occupation. The best way to explore the narrow, steep roads of the old town is on foot. Make sure to stop by the miradors ( outlook points) on your way up and enjoy a breathtaking view of the sea and coastline.

Plaza Iglesia, The old church square, houses the old, white and blue-domed church, which is a cherished object for photographers, with its amazing stained glass windows and baroque style decorations. The church square has also got some of the best restaurants in the region.

Altea has a number of art galleries, workshops and art and music classes.

Altea is located very close to attractions and activities in other cities in Costa Blanca, the closest ones is Albir and Benidorm to one side and Calpe and Denia to the other. Altea is connected to all of these cities either by bus or the local train. Guadalest is also worth a visit and the same is Fonts D’Algar waterfalls. A hike up the Sierra Helada is also recommended, with an amazing view over the Mediterranean sea and rich wildlife, with many indigenous plants.

Faro de l’Albir is a lighthouse located in the Alicante town of Alfaz del Pi. It was inaugurated on April 30, 1863, following the 1855 project of the engineer Antonio Molina. Nearby are the restored ruins of the Bombarda tower, a 17-meter 17- century watchtower four meters high that served to warn of frequent attacks by Berber pirates.

Les Fonts de l’Algar, a natural spring, a great place for connoisseurs of nature and mountains. The coolness from the mountain rivers gives an excellent opportunity to escape from the summer heat. Nearby there is a park of dinosaurs, in which it is interesting not only for children but also for adults. There is located in the municipality of Callosa d’en Sarriá, just 3 kilometres from the town centre, 12 km from Altea and 15 kilometres from one of the main tourist affluence points in the Valencian Community, the municipality of Benidorm.
